Evans Takes Plea Deal in Florida, Still Facing Issues in Texas

EvansNew Vikings DT Fred Evans was coming to the team with some baggage, and the Viking knew that. Thursday, Evans took care of some of his past issues, agreeing to a plea del with a court in Miami-Dade (Fla.) after an incident back on June 23rd. He pleaded no contest to resisting arrest as well as battery on a police officer. He will pay a fine of $1,310 and was given two years of withheld adjudication. It basically means if he stays out of trouble for two years and does not voilate his probation, he will not be punished further.

He does have one more legal issue to deal with, as he has been summoned to a court in Texas on September 5th for marijuana possession. He was out of the water on that, until he voilated the terms of the agreement in Texas for his incident in Miami. If he does not show up in Texas on the 5th, he will have a warrent for his arrest issued. The Vikings will play in in Texas vs the Cowboys in Dallas on October 21st. He and the team is also awaiting word from the league about a punishment from the league for his issues. He likely will be facing a 1 or 2 game suspension.
