Once again the Vikings’ defense put points on the board, this time defensive back Cedric Griffin found paydirt. Linebacker Ben Leber grabbed a loose ball and pitched it to Griffin, who dropped it but got a good bounce, and rumbled into the end zone to give the Vikings a 14-7 lead. Griffin went to high school in San Antonio and played college ball for the Texas Longhorns. The Vikings defense wore down in the second half, with Dallas accumulating 381 total yards. The Cowboys used their possession game to run out the clock after taking the lead in the third quarter.
