Holcomb Seems to be on the Way to Starting Sunday vs Philly

All signs are pointing to Kelly Holcomb starting at quarterback in Sunday’s showdown with the Eagles at the Metrodome for the Vikings.  Regular starter Tarvaris Jackson suffered a fractured finger in Sunday’s loss to the Cowboys, and has only taken a couple of snaps at practice this week, while Holcomb has gotten most of the work.  “Every guy’s different with thresholds of pain, too,” Holcomb said. “I know he did take some snaps and he did throw the ball. He looked pretty good with a fractured finger, but I can’t say what he’s feeling. I know that guys have played through that, and then I know that guys haven’t. I guess it depends on the person.”  Head coach Brad Childress said that playing Holcomb if Jackson cannot grip the ball is not going to be a tough move to make.  “It’s going to be pretty clear cut, whether or not I think he can put his hand on the football and control the football,” Childress said. “It’s not like he’s ambidextrous or anything like that.”
