Posted in Troy Williamson says he and the Vikings are moving on after last week’s flap centering on the wide receiver’s bereavement leave. The Vikings docked Williamson a week’s pay because he was gone for nine days following the death of his grandmother. Under pressure from some the players, the Vikings decided to pay Williamson, who donated his 25-thousand-dollar game check to charity in his grandmother’s name.

This should have been bigger news because what the Vikes did to Troy was wrong and selfish. In now way do you punish someone at the wrong time. I can see someone getting fired after being late to work everyday, but firing him for being late b/c he was mourning a deceased relative…that’s unquestionable. Fining a shady receiver, even though he’s had his troubles and reasons to get fined, should have never occured and the Vikings should make an equal contribution to Williamson’s grandmother’s charity. Its just ridiculous that it ever came to a fine after the passing of his g’ma.
