Smith Starts Game Despite Trouble

Safety Dwight Smith started the game against the Bears last night despite his getting a ticket for marijuana possession just four days prior to the big Monday night game. A police report indicates that officers found a small amount of pot in Smith’s car in downtown Minneapolis on Thursday night. Coach Brad Childress knew of the citation and says he will wait until all the facts are known before implementing any punishment on his starting safety. Smith was credited with four tackles in the game, including a takedown on the game’s second play.
