Running back Adrian Peterson was benched for the opening series of yesterday’s loss to Denver after missing the team bus. Peterson is also facing a fine, but says he understands because he broke a team rule. The rookie running back notes Vikings coach Brad Childress treats everyone the same on the team, and that he’ll learn from it. Peterson wound up with just 36 yards on eleven carries, which gave him an NFC-best 1,341 yards. He’s the first rookie since Barry Sanders in 1989 to lead the conference in rushing.
