WilliamsonThe Troy Williamson era in Minnesota appears to be over.  The Vikings today told Williamson that he is free to seek a trade, a move that would end three letdown seasons with the Vikings.  In those three seasons, Williamson, a former first round pick, caught just 79 passes for 1067 yards and three touchdowns.  He had just one touchdown the past two seasons.  “He’s property of the Minnesota Vikings right now and he’s under contract,” Vikings coach Brad Childress said. “We have spoken to his agent and he has the opportunity to go out [and seek a trade].”  ESPN’s John Clayton is reporting that 14 teams have been contacted about Williamson, and eight have shown enough interest to talk back to the Vikings about a deal.  Bottom line is Williamson has been a major bust, and it would be a shock to see the Vikings able to get much in return for him.
