Former First-Round Pick Erasmus James Waived
Posted by Matt Loede on May 23rd, 2008 in News

The Vikings today waived good-bye to defensive end Erasmus James, a player that was taken with one of the Randy Moss first-round draft picks back in 2005. James was waived after he failed a physical. He had a torn ACL back in 2006, and in 2007 re-hurt his knee. He was the 18th overall pick in 2005, and never was able to live up to the pass rushing force the team thought he might be.
“We decided to waive Erasmus and we wish the best for him in the future,” said coach Brad Childress in a statement issued by the team. The 25-year-old James leaves the Vikings with just five career sacks and 38 tackles in three seasons.
