Allen Misses Practice Again; Frerotte Also Sits

As the Vikings get set for the Cardinals this Sunday, they could be without one of their key playmakers on defense, as DE Jared Allen missed his second straight day of practice on Thursday with a knee injury. The Star Tribune is reporting that Allen and the team are not saying what is wrong with the left knee that is keeping him sidelined, but as the story says “it certainly isn’t a good sign when a guy misses the two most important practices of the week.”

Allen was hurt during the Lions game Sunday, but came back to play, and has also played through a grade-3 (the most severe) shoulder separation this season. Brian Robison was working at right end for Allen with the first unit. Robison had arthroscopic surgery on his knee after the team’s victory over Chicago on November 30th and did not play last Sunday.

Other players who appeared set to miss today’s practice include quarterback Gus Frerotte (back), right tackle Artis Hicks (elbow), wide receiver Darius Reynaud (turf toe) and defensive tackle Ellis Wyms. Tarvaris Jackson, who is expected to start Sunday will get the first-team reps again today.
