Judd Zulgad of Access Vikings reports that the Vikings have agreed to a one year deal with free agent cornerback Benny Sapp. Sapp was an addition to the squad in 2008 and saw significant playing time when Charles Gordon suffered a gruesome injury. Sapp had 22 tackles and two interceptions in 2008. Sapp has had a career of being a guy that is under-sized but makes up for it with his play-making abilities.

According to Zulgad, Sapp’s 2008 salary is expected be above the veteran minimum of $620,000.

The signing makes Sapp the fourth Vikings cornerback to be entering 2009 in a contract year. Charles Gordon, Antoine Winfield, and Cedric Griffen are all set to be free agents after this season. More on that to come.
