Vikings cornerback Cedric Griffin was rewarded for his improved play at the end of the 2008 season. While details are not yet known, Griffin received a contract extension today. Brad Childress said, “We are glad to have Cedric as our right cornerback going forward. He is an aggressive, physical, contact football player, whose best football is in front of him.”
This is a proactive move by the Vikings front office to try and make next year’s offseason a little less turbulent. As we mentioned before the Vikings had Antoine Winfield, Cedric Griffin, Charles Gordon, Benny Sapp, and now Karl Paymah all entering contract years. With Griffin now locked up for the future, it’ll be interesting to see if Winfield gets a new contract.
