Childress Talks A Lot

Chip Scoggins of Access Vikings has posted some transcripts of comments made by Brad Childress on Wednesday. The entire story can be seen here and here are a few highlights:
* There will be a legitimate competition between Tarvaris Jackson and Sage Rosenfels during training camp to see who can earn the starting quarterback role.
* No comment was made on quarterback Jay Cutler.
* He made a point to mention that John David Booty is developing well, but that he is not yet to the level of Rosenfels or Jackson.
* He said that the inactive offseason thus far is basically just a matter of not wanting to over spend.
* Childress said he had no issues with Matt Birk and that Birk wanted to test free agency and they couldn’t stop him.
* In the first two rounds, the Vikings want to take the best player available regardless of their position and the team needs.
* Antoine Winfield’s agent has been talking with the Vikings to get a contract extension in place.
* He said a whole lot of nothing when asked about T.J. Houshmandzadeh’s indicating that a conversation with Tarvaris Jackson made him decide to sign with Seattle instead.
* Childress admitted that Sage Rosenfels is prone to make “that major error” but that those errors were a result of Rosenfels being thrown into games where the Texans were already losing by a large margin.
* The Vikings will not make a decision on Tahi until the last possible minute.
