What The Mocks Say
Posted by Adam Warwas on April 3rd, 2009 in 2009 NFL Draft, News

I spent some time going over piles upon piles of mock drafts. I thought I’d compile them all and give some insight into who the Vikings are projected to select with their first round pick.
Percy Harvin, WR, Florida – 21%
Eben Britton, OT, Arizona – 16%
Alex Mack, C, California – 10%
Darius Butler, CB, Connecticut – 7%
Darrius Heyward-Bey, WR, Maryland – 6%
Jeremy Maclin, WR, Florida – 6%
Vontae Davis, CB, Illinois – 6%
Hakeem Nicks, WR, N. Carolina – 4%
William Beatty, OT, Connecticut – 3%
Josh Freeman, QB, Kansas State – 3%
Michael Oher, OT, Mississippi – 3%
The remaining 15% is accounted for by players who received 1% or less. I will do this again before the draft, to see how any signing, trades, or cuts affect the mocks between now and then.

I would be so stoked if Percy Harvin somehow falls to us at #22. That would be a genuine first round steal in a draft lacking much intrigue.
Harvin really stands out to me as one of the best if no the best skill position prospect in this draft. When I look at the QB/RB/WR/TE crop it’s really he and Crabtree who grab my eye. All the guy does is score touchdowns against elite competition and win national championships. He’s a true gamer. Whichever offensive coordinator lands him is going to be a very happy camper. Let’s hope that it’s the Vikes.
Also, Britton or Mack won’t give anyone heart palpitations but they are relatively bust-proof picks if Harvin is off the board.
