The league’s leading rusher, Adrian Peterson, has made no secret of the fact that he would like to bulk up this offseason. His goal is to add another 5 to 12 pounds before the start of the season. Peterson thinks that if he can add the weight but keep the speed and ability to cut, then that will make him all the more dangerous.
Brad Childress doesn’t seem quite as sold on the idea. In an article by Judd Zulgad Childress says, “I’m thinking he’s probably not going to get to 230, nor does he want to be at 230… I think just adding weight to say I’m going to get 10 pounds heavier probably doesn’t have a lot of merit to it.” Childress said Peterson needs to focus on gaining “good weight.”
