Jared Allen Expects A Challenge

Jared Allen raised some eyebrows when he decided to stay away from the Vikings OTA’s and instead decided to hire a personal trainer and work out in his Arizona home.  However, recently caught up with Allen and he says that he’s doing good geting into shape and also rehabing his multiple injuries from last season.  He says, “I got a trainer to get my shoulder back. I’ve got a gym in the house. I’m working out every day. I’m ready. I’m excited. I can’t wait to get on with the season.”

Allen also spoke to some of the moves made by the Vikings division opponents.  He thinks that as the defending champions of the north, the other three teams will be gunning for them, and that the Bears, Packers, and even the Lions will be improved teams this season.

However, Allen is not a guy that’ll turn down a a good fight.  “It’s going to be a challenge, but you don’t want it easy,” Allen said. “Everybody is going to make moves. Everybody is trying to win a championship. Eventually, you’ve got to beat everybody to get there.”

He also siad that he feels more comfortable heading into this season, not needing to live up to the hype of being a messiah for the Vikings defense and also knowing his teammates better.  “I’ve got a better feel for everyone I’m playing with and they’ve got a better feel for me,” Allen said. “There’s no feeling-out period. We’re going to hit the ground running and go for it.

He also says, “It’s really cool when I see the excitement to continue to build and make good on some of the promises we made. Our goal was to win a division championship and we were able to do it. It’s good to be in a situation where they didn’t have to make any major moves. We’re just trying to maintain and push forward a little bit.”
