More Harvin Reaction, Dudes

I’ve been digging around, and have found some more insider takes on the Vikings selecting Percy Harvin at #22.

Over at, the have posted an interview with Florida coach Urban Meyer, who said, “I don’t believe we’ve ever coached against anyone like that. I’ve coached against some great players. I’ve coached some great players, but not a dual threat and a reckless runner like that. I’ve had our opponents say they’ve never faced anything like that. He’s got the best first step I’ve ever seen. I keep hearing (comparisons to) Reggie Bush. I’ve never coached against Reggie Bush. I’ve watched some highlights of him. He’s a phenomenal player, but (Harvin) is very unique.”

Cris Carter, who had Urban Meyer as his recievers coach at Ohio State, gives a positive outlook on Harvin by saying, “I’ve seen a bunch of games against the best competition in the country, and every time I saw Percy Harvin, he was the best player on the field. That’s every bowl game, two national championships and three seasons in the SEC. He was the best player on the field. Now, does Percy have some work cut out for him? Yes, he does. Does he have to repair his image? Yes. Is he going to have issues as far as moving foward? Yes, of course.”

Perhaps my favorite reaction is one that Mark Craig of the Star Tribune just happened to hear.  Before the Vikings announced their first round pick to the public, Craig was talking with Jared Allen when owner Zygi Wilf came into the room and whispered their choice into Allen’s ear.  Jared Allen’s reaction was “Really!?!  Our return game will be awesome, dude!”

How fantastic is that?  Jared Allen just called Zygi Wilf “dude.”  That’s right up there with Harvin calling him “Mister Zygi” when they first met last weekend.  Something tells me Jeff Bridges is jealous.
