With Favre’s help, I can finally get even with Mike!

Rumors continue to swirl about a rejuvenated Brett Favre training hard for the upcoming season.

Bus Cook says his career is over. Farve says he’s retired……for now !

Profootballtalk.com posted a story regarding a mysterious flight plan that showed a plane flying from Minneapolis to Favre’s home town of Hattiesburg and then back to Minneapolis all in the same day.

Coincidence ? Perhaps.

Favre was released by the Jets last week, the latest word is he has hired a personal trainer in Mississippi. ESPN’s Chris Mortensen reports “Favre’s biggest problem with the Jets was that he didn’t have time to go through training, after Ted Thompson held him up..

Favre will now have time to condition his body for the long season. He also has motivation to train hard.”

On December 29, he had an MRI. Doctors diagnosed it as a partial tear of the biceps tendon located near the AC joint and some calcification.

ESPN’s Ed Werder reported major surgery was not necessary. He needs nothing more than arthroscopic surgery to repair the injury and that only if he wanted immediate relief from pain. He could have avoided arthroscopic surgery altogether. The Jets suspect Favre’s torn right biceps injury was aggravated last season. Favre had a similar injury to his left shoulder three years ago while playing for the Packers and avoided surgery..

But Brett Favre has been in rehab. What is unknown, is how well the bicep has healed. Favre has been in seclusion for months and no one knows what kind of shape his arm is in.

It is a good fit – The Vikings run his West Coast Offense and are a playoff-caliber team.

The Minnesota Vikings are also a perfect fit since they are also seeking to gain respect after 47 years of futility, including four super bowl losses.

It is a good fit – Favre actually WANTS to play in Minnesota. He wanted to play in Minnesota last year, but couldn’t manage to wrangle his outright release by the Packers. He did, however, manage to put Green Bay in an uncomfortable position of having to trade his disgruntled butt to the N.Y. Jets. Much to the chagrin of many Packer fans who considered his legacy to be nearly mythical.

It is a good fit – There are many lines fueling this rumor fire.. That is why it refuses to die. And you’ve got to realize that Favre loves the attention. That is why we continue to go over this now annual ritual of “ Will he ? Won’t he and where ?”

That is also why we must endure the National TV media love fest of “Is this Brett Favre’s last appearance in Giants stadium, yadda, yadda yadda !

That is why when we turn on a game with Brett Favre in it there is 58 minutes of endless “ Brett Favre’s neighbor remembers he ate waffles for breakfast this morning” – like it even matters ! Or “ his wife was seen shopping at L.L.Beans yesterday“ – like anyone cares. Or “Brett’s dog prefers Alpo over Iams” – Now that’s interesting ! …..and 2 minutes of the game itself.

It is a good fit….in more ways then one !!!

As a life long Viking fan I found it nauseating to the point of infuriation. I found myself longing to smack my so-called friend …. let’s call him “Mike” (a misguided Wisconsin Packer fan) … senseless with a framed picture of Vince Lombardi just for liking Favre.

It is all so different now. Mike has since turned on his old buddy Brett in such a polar manor. The man who exalted Favre as a football deity now shamelessly says “I hope he falls flat on his face in NY.” – Hilarious ! And “Oh Lord, NO….Not Minnesota !”

Can you imagine my glee at the thought of Favre taking the field in Purple and Gold ??? Not because of what he can do for MY team, but for what he WILL do to Mike and all those other formally smug Packer fans !

Petty of me ? Yep !

Am I being a jealous, tactless weasel ? Uh-huh !

Am I shamelessly gaining pleasure at the expense of my friend ? Oh, Yea !!!

But seriously Viking fans, admit it ! There surely must be at least a tiny, little smidgen of “Displaced Favre Syndrome” in many of you. Am I really the only one willing to admit to this disease ?

Hello, my name is Chris and I have D.F.S.
This is all so hard to face, but here goes…..

I want Brett Favre to be a Minnesota Viking to get even with Mike ! I want revenge for all the pain that Favre and Mike have inflicted upon me with their success.

Every single one of those “ In your face, Viking boy” taunts and “Favre is greater then Tarkenton” rants and “ my team is better then yours “ banter that was so mercilessly inflicted upon me over the last decade.

I shamelessly bask in this possible ultimate betrayal ! The ultimate undoing of Mike !
