Herrera & Hicks at 100%

Brad Childress created quite a buzz when he did a radio interview yesterday in which he finally acknowledged the Vikings pursuit of Brett Favre.  However, there were some non-Favre related tid bits to come out of that interview as well.

One important comment made by the head coach was that offensive linemen Anthony Herrera and Artis Hicks are back up to 100% health after suffering injuries prior to OTA’s.

Last year Herrera proved to be a very pleasant surprise as the starting right guard and Hicks has proven to be a valuable utility backup.  Hicks did an admirable job filling in for suspended left tackle Bryant McKinnie at the beginning of last season and also unseated Ryan Cook from his starting job at right tackle towards the end of last season.  Cook regained the starting gig only after Hicks suffered an injury.

Having both of these guys back up to full health, combined with the addition of Phil Loadholt and positive reports about John Sullivan should make the Vikings one of the more solid offensive line teams in the league again.
