Last season, Marcus McCauley was a forgotten man on the Vikings roster. However, we’ve been hearing an awful lot about him over the course of OTAs. With the absence of starter Antoine Winfield and third round pick Asher Allen, McCauley has had an opportunity to practice with the first team and is apparently making a good showing.
Most recently, McCauley picked off Sage Rosenfels twice during 2-minute drills.
The third round pick from 2007 might just re-ignite his career if he can keep performing at a high level. It will not be easy for him however, as the Vikings are a bit crowded at that spot. With Winfield, Allen, and Cedric Griffin as pretty much locks to make the roster that leaves McCauley, Benny Sapp, Karl Paymah, Charles Gordon, and Marcus Walker all competing for just a couple of spots.
On the plus side, if McCauley and/or a couple of these other guys can step up and truly impress throughout OTAs, training camp, and pre-season, then the Vikings could gain a bunch of leverage in the Winfield negotiations and a resolution could be the result.

Damnit! That was my article!
“Most recently, McCauley picked off Sage Rosenfels twice during 2-minute drills.”
This could also mean that Rosenfels blows.
