Money Keeping Favre From Being a Viking

Looks like the almighty dollar is going to be yet another thing holding back Brett Favre from being a Viking:

Money is the driving force in professional sports, and it still appears that the structuring of a contract for Brett Favre could be the holdup of the future hall of fame quarterback signing with the Vikings. With training camp to open in Mankato this week, it’s hard to figure what else could be the real reason for Favre’s delay in signing. Favre’s agent, Bus Cook, is slicker than most. So, it appears, is Favre. … And now, with training camp just six days away, Favre still isn’t saying he’s ready to play for the Vikings.

That smells like money. Guaranteed money. And Cook and Favre have a keen sense for that. … For Favre and Cook and the Vikings now, you have to wonder about the structure of the proposed contract, whether it includes game-by-game roster bonuses and similar contingencies rather than more in guaranteed money. Favre’s contract is expected to be worth at least $10 million, but in what form? The Vikings, as usual, aren’t talking.
