Favre Says He’s Staying Retired

Apparently the Brett Favre experiment for the Minnesota Vikings is no more. Favre, who was working out with the intent to come back to play this season, has told the team that he is going to stay retired.

Vikings coach Brad Childress said that Favre could not go through the “daily grind both mentally and physically” according to the Star Tribune.

“I just think it was a rare opportunity to explore a Hall of Fame quarterback who had background in the NFC and in this division,” Childress said. “He knows our system inside out … This doesn’t change anything about how I feel about our football team.”

Former Packers and Vikings kicker Ryan Longwell told ESPN the text read, “I had to decide against it, appreciate your support but I had to make a tough decision.”

The question now is – is this really the end for Favre? This could all be another game for the future Hall of Fame QB to secure more money, while at the same time avoid the rigors of another NFL training camp.

It seems too easy to end this way.
