Harvin Needs To Get It Done

Vikings fans are excited about Percy Harvin.  There is no denying it.

However, because he got in trouble in high school, has had a career riddled with injury, wasn’t a lot of people’s favorite guy in Florida, played in a gimmick offense with the gators, reportedly scored a dismal 12 on the Wonderlic test, failed a drug test he knew was coming, and also missed OTAs and the Rookie Symposium due to illness, let’s just say those same excited fans will have a very low tolerance if Harvin’s contract status turns into a holdout.

Training camp starts Friday morning, and because of the time difference where I am at, I really hope that I am still asleep when news breaks of Harvin’s contract agreement.  However, if I wake up and no contract has been signed, then it will officially be a holdout and the clock will start clicking.

The clock will tick for only so long before Harvin really starts to miss valuable snaps in an offense that he is unfamiliar with.

The clock will only tick for so long before Vikings coaches decide to trim down the amount of plays that they reportedly created just for him.

The clock will only tick for so long before his chances of making more money by reaching incentives begin to get really slim.

The clock will only tick for so long before his hype is replaced by the hype of somebody else stepping up, like a Jaymar Johnson or Darrius Reynaud.

The clock will only tick for so long before Vikings fans turn on Harvin and begin to make up vulgar nicknames for him and chastise the Vikings for their pick.

The player selected right before and the player selected right after Harvin have both signed contracts.  The slot is set.

Get it done Percy.  Before time runs out.
