Many think that this is a make or break year for Vikings head coach Brad Childress. Owner Zygi Wilf says that he has not made fact clear to his coach, and least not yet.
“We never make any preconditions on how the season should turn out or what conditions would be necessary,” Wilf said. “We’re very happy with our coach and the coaching staff and the players. We’re very excited for this year. That doesn’t ever come into my mind.”
It was a stressful week in some regards for the Vikings, from having retired QB Brett Favre say retired and turning down the Vikings, to still trying to get first-round pick Percy Harvin in camp, the Vikings have been in the headlines a lot lately.
“Right now, what’s on my mind is Mankato and enjoying this preseason and looking forward to starting off this year as division champs and proudly to defend it,” Wilf said. “We have some tough competition as you all know and every game last year was a tough one. We want to make sure that we get better and we improve and we stay ahead of the competition. That’s all we can expect.”
The owner said that the Favre idea has sailed, and that they will not try to make a move for a QB, or try to revisit the Favre saga and talk him into coming to the team.
