Injury Bug Slowly Getting More Relevant

Here is a look at various injuries facing the Vikings thus far in the preseason:

Kahlil Bell:  You can take the long-shot running back off the list of injured Vikings.  In fact you can take him off the Vikings roster.  He was cut a couple of days ago after sitting out most of training camp.

Garrett Mills:  The third string tight end has had his arm in a sling for a while now.  While his injury may not be season threatening, the Vikings did recently sign Northern Illinois tight end Jake Nordin.  This suggests that Mills will miss enough time to warrant bringing in another guy to take second team snaps.

Brian Robison:  The defensive end had a promising season last year and was hoping to roll that momentum into this season.  Robison has faced a set back however when he injured his leg early on in training camp.  He did not play against the Colts, but it is looking like he could possibly be in the mix to play against Kansas City.

Bernard Berrian:  Berrian tweaked his hamstring early in the Colts game.  As a precautionary measure don’t be surprised if Berrian doesn’t play during the preseason, but he should be ready to go in week one.

Percy Harvin:  On the last day in Mankato Harvin experienced a shoulder injury.  Harvin was held out of the Colts game as a precautionary measure, but we should get to see him play against Kansas City.

Sage Rosenfels:  After Robert Mathis disrupted a play, Rosenfels got up limping on Friday.  While he was held out of some practice this week, Sage was able to finish the first quarter in that game.  Rosenfels should be ready to go for Friday.

Jared Allen:  This is the most recent injury to take place.  Allen left practice on Monday after experiencing an injury to his right ankle during team drills.  Allen reportedly limped off the field, spent some time with the trainer, and then walked without cleats in the locker room.  While an injury to Jared Allen is a scary thought, I think this guy would have to actually lose a leg in order to keep him off the field.  Remember, he played through two very painful injuries last season… and played well.

Jim Kleinsasser:  The blocking tight end had a rough game on Friday, after missing some blocks and dropping a pass.  For an unknown reason, Kleinsasser missed practice on Monday.

Let me know if I’ve missed any injuries that you’ve heard about, and I’ll make sure to add it to the list.
