Peterson Not Getting Into It w/ Tomlinson About Who is the Best Back

The Pioneer Press says that Vikings RB Adrian Peterson is not stepping into a war of words with fellow star running back LaDainian Tomlinson, who is claiming he’s the best back in the league:

Vikings running back Adrian Peterson is an expert at evading NFL tacklers, and the 2008 rushing champion also proved very capable of juking controversy. Peterson sidestepped a potential war of words with San Diego’s LaDainian Tomlinson on Wednesday when asked to respond to Tomlinson declaring himself the best ball carrier in the league, not Peterson, as Jim Brown said earlier this year in a magazine article. Peterson, who has rushed for more yards (3,101) over the past two seasons than anyone, was amused rather than annoyed by Tomlinson’s zingers. “It really doesn’t matter, but it’s Jim Brown. It came out of his mouth, so I can see why it would definitely touch a nerve,” he said with a smile. “The only thing I try to do is be the best complete player I can. That means doing things in the offseason that I can improve on and make my game better that will help the team. I’ll let everyone else voice their opinion.”

I must say hats off to Mr. Peterson. In a league where trash talking is not uncommon Peterson, shows true maturity by not being spiteful and childish. He’s smart enough to realize that the art of football and the strength and abilities of a team should far surpass personal feelings and the stupidity of one of obviously jealous dude. Peterson- A class act.
