Vikings sign Booty to practice squad
The Minnesota Vikings have somehow managed to slip quarterback John David Booty through waivers and sign him to the practice squad along with seven other players.
The Vikings announced the practice squad on Sunday. The others are running back Ian Johnson, tight end Garrett Mills, offensive tackles Chris Clark and Drew Radovich, receiver Nick Moore, defensive tackle Tremaine Johnson and safety Colt Anderson.
Booty was the team’s third-string quarterback last season. But he lost out on a spot on the active roster when the Vikings signed Brett Favre to be the starter. Tarvaris Jackson and Sage Rosenfels will be the backups.
The Vikings also announced they have waived center Jon Cooper, an undrafted rookie who originally made the squad, only to be released when Kory Lichtensteiger became available to take his place.
