Minnesota Vikings TEAM

Watching the MN Vikings defeat the Detroit Lions today calmed some of my fears. Yes, I know our Vikings should have blown away the 0-18 Lion’s in every aspect of the game. Unfortunately we didn’t and now we have to wonder just a little bit if our team is that good.

Next week we run into the 2-0 San Francisco 49ers… a much better offense and a much better defense. It will be another challenge for us.

One of my fears that I had going into the 2009 football season was my total dislike for a certain ex Green Bay Packer wearing number 4. I kept wondering how this egotistical football player was going to destroy our locker room, destroy our chemistry, destroy our “Kick Ass” offense that has taken so long to build. I felt Adrian Peterson was the name on our team marquee and the one player that should take credit for the way defenses have to play us. How was Brett Favre going to disrupt that and use it to his advantage?

Well, I think after Brett took off his Green Bay Packers Jersey and his New York Jets jersey things seemed to settle down. I think he looks pretty good in a Vikings Jersey and I think he likes his role on this team.  I really believe that all the hype that was written about him over the years wasn’t because he thrived on the attention and needed it but it was because writers always write about the super stars. (I know I am Guilty)

Brett seems to be a good teammate and a great football player. Yes, his better years are behind him but we don’t need him to win games by himself like Green Bay and the Jets did. We need him to manage an already talented football team.  I have gone from despising him to almost accepting him as one of our own and welcome him into our Viking family. I can say that at every snap I keep hoping he will throw one of his great down field passes but it just seems he hands it off to Peterson and everything goes great. He has really taken the role, as I believe Childress planned it.  A game manager with the talent to scare any defense and not make mistakes. . We may have to count on his arm to lead us to victory in a few games this season and I assure he will be up for the task. Our offensive line looked shaky at best against the Lions. I can tell you with Favre at QB and Peterson in the backfield and Harvin somewhere on the field you shouldn’t miss one play. That will be the one they take to the house! Could it be with all these Super Stars we still have a TEAM with the right chemistry to take us to the Super bowl?

I think so … SKOL Vikings, This is the year!

LOL I remember your comments at the OAV how you despised the thought of Brett as our quarterback. Glad to see you are coming around some. All is well in Vikingsland. A little more protection would be ideal.

older, I’m assuming you mistakenly thought this article was written by me? Wrong. I still hate Favre 😉 But that doesn’t mean Todd has to.

I am just softening you up Adam, Favre is still the best option we have this year. I’ll leave you a spot on the bandwagon

Haha, he may very well be the best option, but I still can’t stand it. I’ll forever have a seat on the Vikings band wagon, and will never trade that in for a seat on a tractor.
