The General Is Rallying The Troops

World War Four is upon us.  One week from today, we will do battle with our most hated enemies.  This time will be different, as the legend has defected to join the purple.

The man leading the charge is coach Brad Childress.  He has already begun calling on the fans to help win the game.  Here is the story from the Pioneer Press:

Vikings coach Brad Childress has a message for the team’s fans, as everyone prepares for next Monday’s showdown at the Metrodome against the Green Bay Packers.

“Our people make it a tough environment, those people who show up and cut it loose,” Childress said of Viking fans, whom he applauded in Sunday’s win against the San Francisco 49ers. “So in this state to state rivalry, I would only expect that they would conserve their energy here, in the next six days, and have it come to a crescendo, not out in the parking lot, before the game, but when they say, ‘Are you ready for some football?’ that that would pick up a little bit.”

The latter line, of course, is Hank Williams Jr.’s signature for Monday Night Football.

But Childress spoke glowingly of the dome-field advantage against the 49ers.

“There were times when it was deafening yesterday. And, again, you see that our players feed off that energy. It’s a great environment for our defense to be able to get off on,” Childress said. “It’s hard to contend with, just if it’s something as simple as the play coming into the quarterback, through his helmet, can cause delays of games, can cause those false starts.

“It’s a tough environment.”

  1. The Dome is a definitely a nasty place to play in. It’s old, dirty and reeks of unfulfilled promises.
