Kevin Seifert over at ESPN pointed out an interesting nugget.  Brett Favre has been a beast when throwing from the shotgun.

Favre is the second best quarterback in the league out of the shotgun formation, with a 117.2 rating.  He has completed 75.4 percent of his passes out of the shotgun for 545 yards and 4 touchdowns.  In comparison, he has completed 61% of his passes when lined up under center.

While lining up in the shotgun is a red flag to defenses that the Vikings will be passing, Seifert suggests the formation as a remedy for the Vikings pass protection woes (9 sacks in the first three games).
