Vikings Games Are Fun

[Note From Adam:  This post from Todd is a couple days late because of my travel schedule.  Just wanted to apologize to Todd for not getting it up sooner, and also let everyone know that I am back and ready to talk some Vikings!]

I remember the Good ol’ Vikings teams when they were fun to watch. Those games just haven’t been happening this year.   I often wondered if space age technology had helped the Vikings over the last 20 years with out going through NASA or some other scientific documentation.   Miraculously the Minnesota  Vikings offensive play calling would  match exactly what I was thinking. Here I was, during any given home game,  almost 100 miles away from the HHH Metrodome and much farther during the away games,  seated in my easy chair with no wires attached, no radio transponders and yet at any given time they could read my mind and call that exact play that I was envisioning.  Now that was fun. True Vikings fun!

Blast ahead to the 2009 NFL football season. No longer can I sit back and relax and know the play calling before each play. The Vikings brought in some ancient QB that never understood that as MN Vikings fans we were used to seeing repetitious and low risk plays.  We wanted to run the ball and only pass if we had to and then only “check down” passes to a full back.  Fans wanted to see Tavaris Jackson roll out to his right to gain more time to understand the defense and attempt a pass downfield. We really had no expectations of a completion but it was fun to watch. We have been trained to accept the first 2 downs are Adrian Peterson runs and we should learn to like it.  We aren’t used to seeing passes that hit a receiver on a slant route in stride. Fans don’t want to watch the QB look over the defense and call out a new play that might have a better chance of success, we like the one that came in from the sidelines.  I just want the Ol’ fun Vikings play calling back. Well, maybe not…

The Vikings have become unpredictable and adventurous.  That is where the FUN begins.
