Winfield Not Practicing
Many of us fans, and especially the Vikings coaches, are hoping for a speedy recovery for the Vikings top cornerback Antoine Winfield.
The latest update I can pass along is that Winfield is not practicing on Monday.
I wouldn’t read too much into this, as Winfield still has the possibility to play on Sunday. I was speaking with someone in the comments section about this and suggested that the Vikings will play it safe with Winfield, especially since our upcoming opponent is the Lions. Winfield’s long term status is more of a concern than his availability on Sunday.
I suggest that if he can play, that the Vikings ease him back onto the field by using him in nickle situations only.

Adam, will Winnfields absense for a couple games keep him from making the probowl? I’m not suggesting he should play hurt just to make the probowl, just wondering how much time a player can miss and still make it.

If anything, the Vikings defensive breakdowns (missed tackles and blown coverage) since Winfield has left should solidify his Pro Bowl status… assuming he can get back to playing at an elite level sometime relatively soon.
Plenty of players miss a few weeks and still make the Pro Bowl… imagine if Peyton Manning missed three weeks, you know he’d still get the votes.
So, if Winfield can get back on the field and continue to make a huge impact I think he has a good shot at it.
All the national coverage of the Vikings should help our Pro Bowl numbers… at least in fan voting.

I say sit him until after Detroit.

Thanks Adam good perspective. I agree Starrc, dont take any chances, the way he plays he could hurt something else.
