Antoine Winfield will not play Sunday against the Lions.

This is good news for the Lions, who need to rely on Megatron and Kevin Smith in order to come close to victory.

Winfield has this to say, “It’s funny how my injury didn’t happen with me hitting someone. I was at the line. I planted and tried to open up and my foot rolled. That was it. I thought it was my ankle at first but it was the foot.”

Yeah, that’s halarious Antoine.  Look, I like the guy, but twice since joining the Vikings Winfield has kept himself away from offseason training activities.  Both seasons he ended up being hampered by injuries.  Maybe this is coincidence, maybe not, I don’t know.  But what I do know is that athletes should do everything they can to get in shape for a long NFL season so that hacks like myself can’t point out these little truths.

Bernard Berrian has been labeled as questionable, though he was able to play with his hamstring issue two weeks ago against the Packers.

More injury updates to come shortly, including the status of Lions starting linebackers Ernie Sims and Larry Foote.

UPDATE:  Ernie Sims has been ruled out of the game, while Larry Foote has been labeled as questionable.  Hear that sound?  That’s the sound of Adrian Peterson licking his chops.
