Random Friday Notes

I was perusing www.profootballfocus.com as well as some other sites, and thought I’d share a few quick notes with you on an array of topics.

  • Madieu Williams was credited with two missed tackles last week on defense, and another on special teams.  He has now surpassed Chad Greenway for the most missed tackles on the team.  Greenway has nine and Williams has nine plus the one on special teams.  The difference, however, is that Greenway has actually made 54 solo tackles as opposed to Williams’ 38 solo tackles.
  • Jared Allen has 12 sacks, which is four more than Ray Edwards has (remember, Pro Football Focus does it’s stats differently than nfl.com).  Jared Allen has 9 quarterback hits and Edwards has 17.  Allen has 24 quarterback pressures while Edwards has 26.  Allen has 18 solo tackles and Edwards has 23.  Edwards is having a very fine year indeed.  Although he does lead our defense with seven defensive penalties called against him.
  • The Vikings defensive line has batted down 13 passes at the line of scrimmage.
  • Phil Loadholt leads the offense with 9 penalties called against him.
  • Bryant McKinnie has allowed the most sacks (5, tied with Loadholt), the most quarterback hits (6), and most quarterback pressures (8) of anybody else on the team.
  • Kenny Onatolu leads the special teams with 11 solo tackles.

There, just some food for thought.  Remember to check out www.profootballfocus.com as their information, albeit very different, is also very interesting.

I knew Edwards was playing better than last year (Remember? He just BARELY missed the NFL sack record by 20-some sacks) but I sure didn’t realize it was that good.
Way to go Ray! keep it up.

Football focus is a great site.

If Ray Ray could just keep his mouth shut, I’ probably like him

I agree bigjohnny!! It’s good to see Ray step it up, since Big K and JA are taking most of the double teaming. That shoulder/launch tackle was the greatest. I wish he wouldn’t have gotten a penalty on that play. Awesome hit!!
