There isn’t much that I find entertaining about ESPN.
Bill Simmons is the exception.
His recent Power Rankings almost had me in tears with laughter (okay, the bottle of scotch may have helped that part out) and I encourage you to check them out.
In addition to the following excerpt, Simmons also discusses Brett Favre’s skeptics accusing him of HGH use and also how the apocalypse would be upon us if the Vikings and Packers played each other in the playoffs. Here is the link to the entire post and here is the excerpt:
Combined record of the nine teams they’ve defeated this season: 39-71. Let’s give them 2009 Winston Wolf Memorial “Don’t Start Sucking Each Other’s Popsicles Yet” status. On the flip side, I like them because they can rush the hell out of the passer and get big plays at any time from three different guys (Peterson, Rice and Harvin). That’s a solid formula for indoors, and they might not have to play a playoff game outside until Super Bowl XLIV. On the flip side of the flip side, Favre is 40 years old (and needs to stay healthy for eight more games), Brad Childress is Brad Childress, and the history of the Vikings speaks for itself. Just a lot going on here.

Simmons keeps mentioning that our schedule is so easy, yet we win the tiebreaker with NO on strength of schedule? Seems he fails to mention that about NO. Got no time for this clown. NO and the VIKES would be a heck of a game thats for sure.
Vikes beat NO in strength of schedule? How do you figure?
Who the hell is this guy? A Packer fan? He sounds like one.
I mean who gives a damn what Packer fans feel about this? Boo freakin hoo.
Whatever. Vikes are 10-1.
I find it funny he should mention this tho-
If Minnesota blows a home playoff game to Favre’s old team Gary Anderson/Darrin Nelson-style-
I have a theory about that, maybe later.
Seifert says we beat n.o. on strength of schedule.
Link?
I know we own the tie breaker because IF we tie it means New Orleans has lost to an NFC team since tha tis all that is left on their schedule… but I find it hard ot believe that our schedule has been significantly harder (if at all) than the Saints.
I read a lot of Seifert and have never heard him say that.
He said in on Kfan interview with Dan Barreiro. I thinks Vikes were .468 or .469 and n.o. was like 430s.
Saints Strength of schedule is 49 – 74 as of December 1st.
sorry…as of December 5th….forgot about the Thursday night game.
Vikings Strength of schedule as of December 5th is 45 – 76.
I’d say the strength of teams played is very close…and by the time the season is over, the vikes will have played the tougher schedule based on the schedules of the teams left to play for each team.
Kevin, thanks! I didn’t think it was that big of a difference. That is really close.
c.c.
Just read it,Sounds like he bleeds Green to me too…
Really? Nobody thought the power rankings were funny? Hmmm…
LOL Adam!!! I thought they were funny.
NO will be a good game. Hopefully we will meet them in the Championship game.
GO VIKES!!
Thanks KevinWI for verifying that. I should have posted where I read the strength of schedule – it was based on if we were to finish tied at the end of the year and some guess on the wins/losses of the teams yet to play. The strength of schedule tie breaker is very close, but yet Simmons just mentions that that the Vikes have an easy schedule. I dont disagree, but so did the Saints – thats all. SKOL Vikes!
