Percy Harvin has proven to be one of the toughest receivers in the NFL. He’s not afraid to come across the middle, he’ll take a huge hit and pop right back up, he’ll return a kick at top speed with 11 giant men coming right towards him, and he played despite a fairly serious shoulder injury.
Harvin missed his first game on Sunday, however, as a result of a chronic migraine issue that has plagued him since he was very young.
The mysterious migraine issue had previously kept Harvin from practicing before, but had not kept him from playing like it did this Sunday.
Brad Childress makes it sound like the Vikings will pull out all the stops in an effort to help their first round investment work through the migraines.
“He should be back and at it [Wednesday] when we start practice, but the process is not over yet,” Childress said. “We’re working vigorously to try to address [the issue] and take some testing and that type of thing, which I’m sure he’s gone through before,” Childress said.
Harvin was nowhere near Vikings practice last week, as he faced a barrage of tests relating to his migraine issues.
For as much risk as the Vikings were perceived as taking by selecting Harvin in the first round, it would be a shame if THIS chronic problem ended up being a major factor in Harvin’s career.

Geesh, has anybody considered a chiropractor? My chiropractor is also a huge Vikes fan and said he thought he probably could figure it out.
Yes the Vikes did consider a chiropractor Johnny, it was on the list two spots behind the witch doctor from Bangladesh.
Those damn Chiropractors think they can fix anything. Johnny dump your Chiropractor and try Cialis.
Hope all these tests Percy is being given will assist some other migraine sufferer as well. High profile athlete with an all-too-common illness.
Freds has had a number of migraines over the years (hold the Steve Smith jokes). Freds feels bad for his old pal Cheech, migraines hurt like you can’t imagine.
Johnny, chiropractor huh?
Ya Freds time to start with the basics. There’s alot of quacks out there that just want you to come back for more. My guy is a small town guy thats not in it for the money. By the way, Steve Smith, Steve Smith, Steve Smith.
Maybe if he tried some marijuana. I hear that stuff works wonders.
But of course I wouldnt know 1st hand.

Cool research CC. I wouldnt know 1st hand either
I’ve had chronic migraines since I was 12 and they are horrible. I have no idea how he can play football with them. I had to drop all sports because they are so bad. If he hasn’t found any medications that work by now I doubt he will find any in the future. For him to deal with the pain of football on top of the migraines is unbelievable, and he is one extreamly tough football player.
Chronic…hmmm perhaps I’m being a bit juvenile but I find the termonolgy funny. hahaha..ha. Right now back to the land where the adults live and leave thier petty, insensitive, jokes behind. Dr. Dre has an album dedicated to Chronic but that’s a Chronic of another kind or is it? Did I say joke time was over? opps. My bad. It’s seriously over now.
In all seriousness I hope Percy gets it together and soon cause he’s a monster with the ball and I like watching him play.
I second the chiropractic thought. do we know if the vikes have or have not had him try one? Tons of celebrities go. Even my wife sees a chiropractor and it has completely eliminatd her headaches.
Yeah…. Fragile Freds is right… those chiropractors are no good. Just ask Emmit Smith. Oh wait, he swore by his chiropractor. Ask AD… oops he says chiropractic helps too. Joe montana, Tiger Woods, Jerome Bettis, Gretzky, Jordan…these guys all got fooled into believing chiropractic helped them.
You’re right, Fragile, Percy should stick to the meds. Other than that one drug reaction where he collapsed on the practice field he’s been responding GREAT to medical attention!
