Henderson Suspended
Vikings backup linebacker Erin Henderson was dealt a four game suspension by the NFL today for violating their policies on enhancement substances.
No further details on the nature of his transgression are available. Henderson would be available to rejoin his team starting the day after their first playoff game… if he’s still a member of the Vikings.
Henderson, brother of E.J. Henderson, has been unable to establish himself as a dependable option, and has often been displaced by guys like Kenny Onatulo, Heath Farwell, and Jasper Brinkley. He has only been active for two games this year.
With both of the Hendersons missing, the Vikings may opt to cut Erin outright and fill the void with a free agent.
I have mentioned before that Derrick Brooks is still available, but I don’t know what type of shape he is in. Rumor has it he may be pursuing a career in politics.
Also, in the comments section of the previous blog, I opined that the Vikings should consider recently released Ram guard, Richie Incognito, as a possible addition to the competition on the offensive line.
UPDATE: Well, that was quick. In the time it took me to write the above post, the Vikings filled their roster. They activated J Leman from the practice squad. J Leman (as PFT points out in a funny post, that is his official first name) was on the roster most of last year, and was signed to the practice squad this year immediatley following E.J. Henderson’s injury. The only thing I really know about him is that he’s a terrible actor. When visiting family in illinois (where he played) I remember seeing him on a commercial for some hardware store and, well… nevermind.
Defensive back DeAndre Wright was signed back to the practice squad.

You have to wonder if this is something that has been going on or if it was just something he did after his brother got hurt to try to make the active team and take his brother’s place.

The fact that we know about it means that all appeal processes have already happened, which can be a lengthy process… so I would bet this has been an ongoing thing for at least a couple of weeks.

Numes,
Freds realizes he is not the smartest guy in the blog, probably not in the top 90%, but what you are suggesting is the following:
- EJ gets hurt on a Sunday
- Monday, Erin starts pounding the roids, Childo immediately notices a drastic elevation in his game, promotes him to the active roster.
- By Sunday game time, Erin kicks some Bengal butt.
- Yesterday the league piss checkers ask Erin to drop his pants and unleash some specimen.
- Today, they run (literally) back to the lab, put on their white lab coats and check to see if the juice is toxic….it is.
- Today they call Roger and say, the urine has star caps written all over it. Roger picks up the phone and call and suspends Erin.
The timeline just doesn’t work.
Fred thinks this had nothing to do with EJs injury. Freds thinks Erin realized he is a marginal player who needed to cheat or he couldn’t compete (sounds a bit like Johnny Cocoran, no?). So….Freds sings this little ditty to his old pal Erin.
Na Na Na, Na Na Na Na, Hey, Hey, Hey…Good bye! See ya Erin.
