Vikings backup linebacker Erin Henderson was dealt a four game suspension by the NFL today for violating their policies on enhancement substances.

No further details on the nature of his transgression are available.  Henderson would be available to rejoin his team starting the day after their first playoff game… if he’s still a member of the Vikings.

Henderson, brother of E.J. Henderson, has been unable to establish himself as a dependable option, and has often been displaced by guys like Kenny Onatulo, Heath Farwell, and Jasper Brinkley.  He has only been active for two games this year.

With both of the Hendersons missing, the Vikings may opt to cut Erin outright and fill the void with a free agent.

I have mentioned before that Derrick Brooks is still available, but I don’t know what type of shape he is in.  Rumor has it he may be pursuing a career in politics.

Also, in the comments section of the previous blog, I opined that the Vikings should consider recently released Ram guard, Richie Incognito, as a possible addition to the competition on the offensive line.

UPDATE:  Well, that was quick.  In the time it took me to write the above post, the Vikings filled their roster.  They activated J Leman from the practice squad.  J Leman (as PFT points out in a funny post, that is his official first name) was on the roster most of last year, and was signed to the practice squad this year immediatley following E.J. Henderson’s injury.  The only thing I really know about him is that he’s a terrible actor.  When visiting family in illinois (where he played) I remember seeing him on a commercial for some hardware store and, well… nevermind.

Defensive back DeAndre Wright was signed back to the practice squad.
