The Pro Bowl is decided by a combination of votes tallied from fans, players, and coaches.  The fan voting accounts for 1/3 of the weight and so far the Vikings have been dominating the votes.

Here is a list of how each player near the top is doing:

  • QB Brett Favre:  Second in the NFC, and only a few hundred votes behind Drew Brees.
  • RB Adrian Peterson:  First RB in the NFC, Fourth overall of all players in the NFL
  • FB Fahu Tahi:  First in the NFC
  • WR Sidney Rice:  Fourth in the NFC
  • TE Visanthe Shiancoe:  Fifth in the NFC
  • OT Bryant McKinnie:  First in the NFC
  • OT Phil Loadholt:  Second in the NFC
  • G Steve Hutchinson:  First in the NFC
  • G Anthony Herrera:  Second in the NFC
  • C John Sullivan:  First in the NFC
  • DE Jared Allen:  First in the NFC
  • DT Pat Williams:  First in the NFC
  • DT Kevin Williams:  Second in the NFC
  • OLB:  Chad Greenway:  Second in the NFC
  • CB Antoine Winfield:  Third in the NFC
  • CB Cedric Griffin:  Fifth in the NFC
  • FS Madieu Williams:  Second in the NFC
  • SS Tyrell Johnson:  Third in the NFC
  • K Ryan Longwell:  First in the NFC
  • P Chris Kluwe:  First in the NFC
  • KR Percy Harvin:  First in the NFC
  • ST Heath Farwell:  First in the NFC

Holy crap.

I thought this whole thing with the Vikings dominating the Pro Bowl voting would go by the wayside at some point but if anything they have gained more momentum.  By my count, if the fans  had all the say in this, then 19 Vikings would be headed to the Pro Bowl.

There are some things that I just cannot explain.  For instance, how is the ENTIRE Vikings offensive line voted as tops in each position?  Or how are Madieu Williams, Tyrell Johnson and Fahu Tahi even in this conversation?  How the heck is Pat Williams beating out Kevin Williams?  How is Winfield that high after missing nearly half the season to this point with injury?

Also, why is Ben Leber not even in this conversation?  How is Shiancoe so low in voting?

None of this makes any sense to me, but I am glad to see it.

You can still vote at NFL.com between now and December 21st.  Have at it.
