Favre puts his thoughts on the Cowboys out in the open. But are the Vikings lacking the necessary confidence?

“When Brett Favre watches video of the Dallas Cowboys, he thinks of the New York Giants Circa 2007.

“They’re making plays. They know they’re making plays. They’re confident,” Favre said. “That was the Giants a few years ago in a nutshell. You can see it, you can feel it. They just had that air about them that they couldn’t be beaten.

“Dallas is playing like that. They’re feeling it.”

Favre is under no illusions about the challenge facing the Minnesota Vikings (12-4) in Sunday’s playoff game against the Cowboys (12-5). Dallas has won its past four outings, including last week’s 34-14 wild-card romp over Philadelphia.

“They’re the hottest team in football,” Favre said.

The Vikings, meanwhile, were 2-3 down the stretch. After going 1-3 in December, they pounded the Giants 44-7 in the regular-season finale Jan. 3.

While coach Brad Childress said in a conference call Wednesday that routing New York puts Minnesota “more in line” with how it played earlier in the season, Favre acknowledged in his chat with the Dallas media that the December decline remains a significant concern.
“Well, I hope we can (overcome it),” Favre said. “From the outside looking in, if you had to look at both teams, you’d go, OK, aside from the fact the Cowboys are playing at the Vikings, who is the hottest team?

“In all phases, they’re playing great. Their defense is outstanding. They’re peaking at the right time. The last game for us was a good game, fortunately. I was asked afterward, ‘Does this make you feel better?’ It definitely beats the alternative. It did give us a little confidence. We have to play that way to win this game. Rarely can you play badly or average in the playoffs and win.”

Being “hot” only goes so far, and the Vikes have been as hot as anyone in the league in the building where tomorrow’s game will be played. Check the scores of our last 4 home games!

    Giants 44-7
    Bengals 30-10
    Bears 36-10
    Seahawks 35-9

No, not the top teams in the league, but not the Rams, Lions, Browns, Raiders, Chiefs or Bucs either.
I’m not worried about this hottest team stuff. Its all about Sunday, nothin’ else.

Humility is true power. When you are confident, you do not have to wear it on your sleeve.
