Posted in Well, kickoff will finally be here in a few moments. The Vikings are set to battle the Saints for a chance to face the Colts in the Super Bowl.
As a continuation from last week, I will have open threads available for each quarter. Make sure to stop in and give us your thoughts on the game.
First Quarter Keys:
- QUICK START: It seems very unlikely that the Vikings are able to silence the crowd in the Super Dome. Even if they jump to a three score lead, these fans know their team is capable of coming back and will cheer them on until all hope is lost. Regardless, the Vikings have to try and kill the mood in that stadium by jumping into a good lead early in this game.
- PHYSICAL CORNERS: The Cowboys drew up the blue print on how to shut down the Saints passing game. Jamming their receivers at the line of scrimmage and playing them very physical keeps them from getting into a rhythm and may allow our pass rush a few more seconds to get to Brees.
- BALANCE: Normally this is where I preach about the running game, but not today. Today, I think it is important that Vikes keep balance on offense and be very methodical. Long, time-consuming drives will tire down this defense and keep Brees off the field. Moving the chains via the ground and the air is the top priority.
