McNabb A Match For Minny?

I’m sure you have heard allusions to this already since Sunday’s loss.

Ever since Brad Childress, former offensive coordinator of the Eagles, became the Vikings head coach there have been rumors of McNabb to Minnesota trade talks every offseason.

McNabb’s contract with the Eagles expires after next season, so now more than ever, the timing makes sense for McNabb to be moved.  But would Minnesota make sense?

Even if Brett Favre decides to retire, would the Vikings want to deny him a chance to change his mind in August again by trading for McNabb?  After all, neither McNabb or Favre would be willing to be the other’s backup.

Then again, we do not know how confident the Vikings feel going into 2010 with Tarvaris Jackson and Sage Rosenfels as their best options.

So, I ask you Gabbers to voice your opinion on this topic.  McNabb or no McNabb?

McNabb has a hard enough time gelling with the team he played with for 11 years, let alone a new team. He’s a fine QB, but not a good fit for MN.

  2. Jon says:

McNabb in Purple is enticing, but two roadblocks…

    1) Favre may not let us know his decision until August. If we trade for McNabb (which would likely have to be done around the draft), that blocks Favre from coming back.

    2) And at what price does Philly want for him? If it’s one of our high draft picks, fine. But we have too many holes (aging at G, CB, DT, backup RB & who knows if EJ will ever be the same) to fork over a package deal.

    NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO…dear God NOOOOOOOOOOOOOO

Freds two most hated QBs. Banjo and Don. NOOOOOOOOO

I saw McNabb interviewed at the pro-bowl and he said he’s staying in Philly

#30 overall pick would be a high price to pay for aging QB, but with window closing on this team I think it has to be considered. Options are very limited, no FA available, a QB in the draft is at least 2 years from really contributing, and does anyone really want T-Jack to lead this team in a playoff game again? I think chances are good that Favre comes back if we don’t find another option by then, but I have the feeling we’re all dreaming if we think he can put together another season like this one. This was a fairy tale year with everything falling in to place with schedule, injuries, everyone getting along, rookies contributing, aging stars having career years, etc etc that we just can’t count on again. Next year it’s gonna be a fight to make the playoffs and then a fight to advance. I still think we can make the SB with some luck, but standing pat at QB makes me awfully nervous.

mcnabb for the #30 pick is a no brainer, period.

But the uncapped year is perfectly made for Favre, we Ziggy could pay him 20-25 million for 19 games and 1 exhibition, not bad a million bucks a week for 22 weeks. I think Brett will come back.
