No Vikings got fined for being dirty in the NFC Championship game.
Three Saints were fined a total of $30,000 for hits on Brett Favre that defensive quarter openly admits are well worth the money if the quarterback has to exit the game.
Bobby McCray is responsible for the largest fine, at $20,000, for a hit below the knees of Brett Favre which he was not flagged for at the time. Favre threw an interception on that play which would have been negated had the officials seen the blatant penalty.
Something tells me that Peyton Manning will be watched very carefully by the officiating crew at this year’s Super Bowl… but I’m not sure if that will deter Gregg Williams and his defense from going after Manning’s knees.
After all, who would you rather play, Peyton Manning or Curtis Painter?

The ref’s need to let these guys play. The hits on Favre were fine, these guys should NOT be fined at all. All the Vikings fans need to stop crying as well. Favre grew up a huge Saints fan, and lives 45 min from NOLA, so maybe that interception was for his favorite team!!!
Rob from NOLA: you, my good sir, are an ad hominem jackass.
I’ve watched enough football to know when a team is playing dirty.
Crying my ass, the entire year the league protected QB’s to a fault UNLESS you are playing the precious Saints. The NFL’s darling charity cases.
In any case, shouldn’t you be off somewhere celebrating the Saints “decisive” victory instead of coming onto a Viking website and “crying” about us “crying?”
5 turnovers, and refs who didn’t mind turning a blind eye, and you managed to squeak out a 3 point victory in overtime.
Yeah, dominant kickass team there. The Manning-led Colts are going to carve you up, so enjoy your ill gotten victory in the short time you have left.
OK, so what side dish would you like with that crow???? Carve us up?!?! hahah that did NOT happen and now we are WORLD champions……just think if Favre does not throw that pic…it coulda been you guys, well there is always NEXT YEAR!!!! Hope to see you guys again in the championship game…well probably not because you guys wont have a QB to take you there. Maybe you will win a championship in the next 20 years or so.
Jeez, Rob, do you know the rules of the game? Why did they get the fines? Cuz they broke the rules of the game as they currently stand. The hits were obviously not all “fine”, as shown by the presence of the “fine”.
Congratulations – enjoy your win and your trip to the Super Bowl, just be willing to acknowledge facts, OK? And I hope you guys win!
Rob,
One of best friends, is a Saints fan and his comments about what happened were not foolish like yours…
And Tomb is right on what you are, And he is right about the Colts, Don’t see them getting to him as much, And they won’t turn it over 5 times.
Go Colts
I’m really sure thats ture. NOT! He wanted to go to the supper bowl more than anyone on that team. The saints were out of line and they shouldn’t be fined, your right on that, they should just be kicked out and the Vikings should be going to the supper bowl. The Saint’s are going to get their asses handed to them by the colts:)
MJ, actually WE handed their asses to them
What a Mardi Gras this will be. Man I sure hope you guys get to feel how we do at some point, it’s freakin’ awesome. WORLD CHAMPIONS BABY! WHO DAT? NOT THE VIKES!
Now, a more logical perspective…
I’m not sure I would call the hits “dirty”, but some were admittedly illegal. How someone can get a $20,000 fine and not a flag in a location where one official is assigned one thing to look for, is something that should have the league red-faced. D-linemen have to go in and hassle the QB, that’s part of the game. They are gonna take their shots, and if they are against the rules, the refs have a job to do. The non-flag on the first INT was absolutely and totally inexcusable.
But Favre was beat up for two reasons. One was, yes, some illegal hits, but two was because we did not protect him well. Pass protection is still an issue for this team at times, and Favre had to throw some balls away on third down during the game that cost us drives.
Uh-oh, now you did it, Rob. You got Tomb pissed. This is not a good thing. There is no telling what might wind up on this blog now. And looks like you just lost one more fan for next Sunday.
another company backs away from plans to sign AD for marketing purposes………ALLSTATE!
Now THAT is a good one!! I gotta “hand” it to ya on that one, Krug!
now after the super bowl we will see what the coaching staff gets fined for that game. I heard the sideline audio, coach’s caught saying get in there and hurt him. go for the knee. saints have no class. go ahead build you worthless city below sea level again…
