Quote Of The Week

This week’s quote doesn’t come from a Viking, but rather a great former running back that knows a thing or two about overcoming a fumbling habit.

Tiki Barber, formerly of the New York Giants, put into words what all of us Vikings fans feared as a truth:

Adrian Peterson, I think, needs to be told directly, almost as an affront to his pride, ‘You are hurting your team. You’re becoming more of a liability than you are an asset to your football team.’ And that hurts.

Barber claims that fixing the trouble is a matter of being more aware and remembering fundamentals.  While it is nothing too tricky sounding, he seems to think that nobody in the Vikings organization has given Peterson the tough love he needs to realize the gravity of this issue.

Peterson’s fumbles are consistently referenced as one of the top three reasons (if not the top reason) that the Vikings lost the NFC Championship.  Teams are realizing that they can have more success against Adrian Peterson by trying to take the ball away from him than by actually stopping him.  Peterson had better get the problem fixed quick, as next year’s tough schedule will feature plenty of talented defenders looking to capitalize on his tendency to put the ball on the ground.

Great quote to pick up, couldn’t agree more. Hopefully this is happening in the end of year review process. Seems like Adrian is a prideful guy, and just can’t admit to himself that it’s a problem. Once you get through to him, I bet he works his a** off to fix it.
