Harvin Keeps Pulling In The Awards

Vikings 2009 first round pick Percy Harvin had a great first season.

That season has now been capped by receiving the highest of rookie honors.

Harvin is Pepsi’s Rookie of the Year, and the presentation was made at the Super Bowl Media Center.  Rumor has it that Harvin was not present when the award was announced… but strangely Bryant McKinnie showed up [kidding about that part].

He beat out Michael Oher, Brian Cushing, Jairus Byrd, and Clay Matthews for the honor.

[UPDATE:  Apparently Harvin was driving to the presentation from his home in Jacksonville but got off to a late start, meaning the press conference had to be cancelled.  This kid sure does miss a lot of things (OTAs, Rookie Symposium, and now this).]

I often refer to a player as a combination of their first and last name. Is it a coincidence that this young man’s name comes up PHarv? I think not, and here’s hopin’ we get one more year of Favre to PHarv.
