Peppers Rumors To Increase McKinnie Speculation?

One rumor that spread like wildfire on Tuesday was that the Vikings divisional rival Chicago Bears have defensive end Julius Peppers on top of their wish list for the 2010 offseason.

The Bears were struck by tragedy when defensive end Gaines Adams passed away at the end of the 2009 season.  This left a pressing need at the defensive end position.  The Bears gave away their 2010 second rounder to obtain Adams (and their 2010 first rounder to get Jay Cutler) so they will almost certainly have to turn to the free agent market to address their need.

Peppers is widely regarded as the top free agent this year in general, and will potentially be big addition to the only NFC North team to defeat the Vikings in 2009.

Furthermore, Peppers had his way with the Vikings when they went to Carolina this past season.  More specifically, he dominated starting left tackle Bryant McKinnie to the point that he had to be benched in an effort to keep Brett Favre from becoming nothing more than a pile of dust.

Many fans (and hack bloggers) have already speculated that McKinnie could be traded this offseason if a team is willing to give up adequate compensation to take him off the Vikings hands.

An arrival of Julius Peppers into the NFC North will do little to quiet that speculation.

Adam….are you saying we keep BMAC for QB protection, or are you suggesting we enter the Peppers bidding ourselves?

  3. Fragile Freds says:

Fred thinks AK is saying there are twice as many reasons as last year to get rid of Brian if Peppers plays for da Bears.

Adam, are any of us in the “hack bloggers” category? I’m not sure what it means, but my gut feeling is that it is not a good thing to be. However, if that is the case, then I would suggest that Tomb is a hack blogger, with Freds, Johnny and a few others borderline.

Mckinnie had at the end of the season and still does have plantar fasciitis. i believe that is why he struggled toward the end of the season particularly with peppers. he took a shot of Toradal prior to the saints game. but he normally does not take the shot because it requires them to sign a waiver for side effects. i hope he doesn;t go anywhere becasue he is alot harder to replace than most poeple want to believe.
