Posted in Artis Hicks has signed a three year deal with the Washington Redkins, marking the second day in a row that the Vikings lost a free agent to another team.
The deal is reported to be worth about $9 million and Hicks will have a chance to compete for a starting spot at right guard.
If the Vikings don’t sign any Unrestricted Free Agents this offseason (exluding restricted players or players who are cut) they may be in a position to recieve compensation draft picks for both Chester taylor and Artis Hicks in the 2011 draft.

too bad about losing Hicks, would rather the Vikings got rid of Cook and paid Artis instead. It’s all about the money at this point
Maybe this is part of Chilly’s master plan to “Get younger at the position”. This was the excuse for letting Tony Richardson go. Who did he get to replace him? A bust called Tapeh.

Pants on the line, Ole. Hicks is about the money and aren’t you glad Vike aren’t paying Artie $ 3 million per annum.
Good player and good pickup – a sixth or seventh round. Could look to find another guy like that.
What you think about my suggestion we take a look at Carlos Rogers and offer a 2nd to Snyder w/ mustard? Rogers has not played to his potential.

Live in VA, and see all the skins games(unfortunately), we do not want Rogers. That is two signed away, we can sign some now.
We can’t block Peppers, and who’s gonna relieve Adrian.
We need to draft an O-Lineman with oour first pick no questions asked.
Just throwing something else out there why don’t the Vikes go after Le’Ron McClain? He is way better than Tahi and if we can get him at the right price I say take a shot. He played a little running back for Balt. why not bring him in and he could help ease the load with CT leaving. Just throwing it out there
Marshal Yanda (Baltimore) RFA is tendered at 2nd round tender. Very powerful run blocking guard.
With Chester departed would we have a shot here? He’d be worth $ 3 million/annum.
Question, now that Hicks signed elsewhere does that mean we can sign two UFA’s?
These guys are all Unrestricted Free Agents so…I say we bring in the old guy Mawae for a year to have some expirience at center and make a run for the superbowl( He’s as old as Favre and we all know how that experiment worked out last year). and get Bobbie Williams. I’m sure we could get these guys for under 7 million. Some corners are Marlin Jackson, Leigh Bodden, Ken Lucas, or Nick Harper. Some safties are Gibril Wilson, Ryan Clark, Sean Jones, or even Sharper. I’m not saying get all of them I’m just throwing out some options for everybody.
