Kennedy To Return

NFL Network has reported that free agent defensive tackle Jimmy Kennedy has opted to return to the Vikings after visiting the Buffalo Bills.
Kennedy has reportedly signed a two year contract worth $6 million, which is a solid move for the Vikings on a few levels.
First, Pat and Kevin Williams could still face four game suspensions pending a ruling on the recently concluded StarCaps trial.
Second, If Ray Edwards gets signed to an offer sheet Kennedy could continue to spell Pat Williams on passing downs which allows Brian Robison to become an all out starter at the left end position.
Third, this gives the Vikings more freedom in the draft to take the best player available.
Nice job, front office!

This is a very good thing. The Vikes needed this guy. Fred wouldn’t be surprised to see Kennedy move up and challenge Fat for the #1 position.

The more you think about it…..Not a good thing to lose Ray Edwards. Depth is key and to put hopes on a new DE is not good. Past drafts is the evidence.
Go Vikes

Nice surprise to get Jimmy back. He played very well last season and his spot is expected to be waiting.

The corollary to the Kennedy signing is Vike have defensive linemen in play. Yes, there’s been plenty of RFA’s/UFA’s in the Free Agent market.
But come the draft Viking have DLs in spades.
Ray Edwards, Brian Robison and Freddie Evans are all available at a price. Come draft day how about
Edwards – a high 2nd
Robison – a 3rd, and
Evans – a 4th or whatever.

Just got a chance to see Jimmys comments and I’m so proud of him. Finally some loyalty and respect from a player. Ya he got a sweet deal for a backup but his true motives were to Vikes, namely Dunbar and big Pat. Very refreshing.
