Brady Quinn Was Sold For What!?!

Reports have surfaced that the Browns decided to trade quarterback Brady Quinn to the Denver Broncos.

I was not too surprised to hear about the trade.

When I heard what the Browns received in compensation, however, my jaw hit the floor.

The Broncos obtained Quinn for fullback Peyton Hillis, a 2011 sixth round draft pick, and a 2012 conditional draft pick.

For a potential franchise freaking quarterback!

My question at this moment is where the hell were the Vikings on this one!?!

If someone would have told me the Vikings could have had Brady Quinn replace Tarvaris Jackson on this roster and only have to give up Fahu Tahi, a 2011 fifth round pick, and a 2012 conditional pick I would have shouted “go for it!” from my roof top.

Quinn has drawn plenty of criticism, but he has shown enough flashes at points in his short career to still hold out hope that he could be a solid starter in the NFL if placed in better surroundings than he had in Cleveland.

We’ll find out what the kid can do, now, and it will start with his ability to beat out Kyle Orton for a starting job in Denver.

Adam, Maybe the Vikings Staff saw something that they didn’t like, I was watching Nfl network and Mayock and others pointed out his inaccurate passing…

Maybe they feel the same way, I do agree with you, He was well worth a shot being his circumstances with the Browns…

  2. Jerry K. says:

Yeah, Cant believe the vikings couldn’t get him. Even though he hasn’t proved much, he still has potential. Plus if he fails, we basically lost very little

  3. Lost Viking says:

Brady Quinn would kill for an arm like Tarvaris Jackson’s.

  4. Fragile Freds says:

Interesting. I guess there was a reason pretty boy fell so far in the draft on day one huh? Could be he just, well…sucks.

    Freds is surprised too though.

  5. Ole says:

I’ve heard from “sources” that the Browns wanted that chunk of man meat Dugan. The Vikings were only offering Tahi

Wise move by the Vikes to hang onto Dugan

I’ve watched him (Quinn) play. IMO from what I saw, he makes T-Jack look like Peyton Manning. NO thanks, was happy that he went somewhere else besides here, just like LT2.

  7. Purple Charlie says:

I have a feeling the Staff has a QB in their sites, come draft day…

Charlie, wouldnt it be cool to be able to sit in on one of their meetings on personell?

PC, I think you are on to something…

      I am with you because:

      1) Uncapped year, would be a great time to pick up a QB in the first round, even early, then sign them to a front heavy contract
      2) Look at the way they are dangling Edwards out there, ammunition for the draft
3)There were, in fact, no rumors of the Vikings trying for Brady Quinn.

      • Purple Charlie says:

Starr, Something has to happen, 1st round or as Freds said, Later rounds…

I hate pulling the trigger on a QB in the 1st round… But like you said, This would be the year to do it…

  8. Fragile Freds says:

I hope if they do draft a QB, it will be Pike. It’s so hard to tell where he will go, but I wouldn’t even take him until round 3 at the earliest.

  9. wtfvikesfan says:

I’d take T jack of Quinn any day!

  10. wtfvikesfan says:

I seen alot of people talking about Tebow at the end of round 2 to the Vikes.

  11. Lost Viking says:

Doubt Childress would ever consider a QB with such flawed mechanics.

Hard to read if Josh McDaniels really believes in Brady Quinn. Cost was so insignificant – picks and salary – to make deal inconsequential. Quinn’s resume and experience may be worth something although he is projecting as a long-term backup.

McDaniels could be seeing something others – including Holmgren – just don’t calculate. But trade is far from a vote of confidence in Quinn

Young is a Harvin wanna be……we need a bruiser to pound it up the middle…..best CB or lineman in rd 1 & 2…then hope Gerhart or Dwyer drops to us in rd 3…….like I said before, I love picking at # 30…….29 teams will make our first pick for us!!!!!
