Vikings Sign Some More Locals

This offseason, the Vikings have already added free agent kicker Rhys Lloyd and drafted rookie linebacker Nate Triplett, both of whom have personal ties to Minnesota.

The Vikings recently added three more locals to the roster in Minnesota State guard Adrian Battles, Gophers defensive end Cedric McKinley, and Gophers cornerback Marcus Scherels.  The Vikings roster now has 87 players (not counting unsigned RFA Ray Edwards) and they can only take 80 guys into training camp with them.

One has to wonder if the sudden interest in local kids as roster filler is an attempt to sway public opinion of the team in the midst of a stadium push.
