News To Me

I picked up an article via Bleacher Report that was originally posted on Deep Shades of Blue’s website.

The article centers around Vikings fullback Fahu Tahi and reeks of P.R. hype.  They describe Tahi as having a “thankless job” as a “devastating blocker.”

Now, I like Tahi more than most readers of this blog, but the article is praising him perhaps a bit (or a ton) too much.  I was willing to look past that, especially since the article finishes by pointing out Tahi’s generosity with his youth football camp.

But there was one paragraph I could not ignore.

“As a restricted free agent in 2009, Tahi signed an offer sheet from the Bengals who had realized their mistake in letting him go in 2006. When Petersen discovered that he might be losing Fahu in the backfield, Adrian informed the Vikings that if they wanted him toting the rock in Minnesota they had better match the Cincinnati offer and keep Tahi in Viking purple and gold.”

So, according to this BYU fansite, Adrian Peterson essentially threatened to leave the team that drafted him if they didn’t retain his average-at-best lead blocker.  And, I, an avid fan of the purple and gold am just now hearing about this via some guy named Brett Richins at Deep Shades of Blue.

Do I have that straight?

I’m calling B.S. on this one, to be honest.

It’s one thing to overhype a little-known fullback doing good things, but it is quite another to place words into the mouth of a superstar running back that currently has more question marks than he would prefer.

If anyone can tell me where Deep Shades of Blue got the notion that Peterson gave the Vikings an ultimatum, then please let me know ASAP and I will apologize.

Meanwhile, I encourage you all to head on over to the original article and leave a comment asking them to source that particular bit of information.

Until they prove me otherwise, however, I’m guessing they are flat out making that up.

Because it makes no sense.

Tell Mr. Richins that Tahi could very well lose his job to our 7th rounder, Mr. D’Imperio. Who is really a linebacker.

And maybe if he was to look at some game film of Fahu? I remember several missed blocks.

Freds believes this guy! He must have some inside information. Give this guy his props!

Wasn’t Tahi a pro bowler last year? Wouldn’t pro bowler indicate he is one of the best in the league? Adrian saw Richardson leave and didn’t want to see Tahi leave as well.

Freds applauds Mr. Richie for breaking this story, it really sheds some light on the “Feud” that is going on right now. This whole “Feud” thing between Coach of the Yea Brad and Adrian is a result of Adrian taking a stand for one of the premier full backs in the game.

I thought I read awhile back the AP likes to run with no lead blocker in front of him????
    Maybe I am wrong.
    Go Vikes

I just left a comment on that Deep Shades of Blue site. We’ll see if the dude responds.

Bleacher Report has been known to have some questionable writers as well as put things on their sites that are flat out wrong.

I am not going to pretend to know if what AP reportedly said was right or not, but it wouldn’t shock me a bit to find out what this person wrote was flat out wrong.
