Talking Defensive Ends

I know I have been somewhat harsh when it comes to defensive end Ray Edwards on this blog, which often results in protests from multiple readers.

I have my doubts as to whether or not the young defensive end has a future beyond 2010 with the Minnesota Vikings, but a recent article from our friends at Pro Football Focus breaks down the Vikings pass rush and has multiple reviews of Edwards that directly conflict with my personal opinion that he is expendable.

The article centers on Jared Allen, but has a good dose of info in regards to Edwards as well.  It is worth a read and you can do so by clicking here.

  1. Lost Viking says:

Increasingly likely that Haynesworth won’t be a Redskin in ’10, therefore, in which 4/3 will he play?

Edwards has re-upped for $ 2m bonus year as Viking. For Haynewsorth to become a Viking three events would have to transpire:

    1) trade something (2nd round?) to Redskin for rights
    2) negotiate a Jared Allen-like contract
    3) arrange an abrupt Phat Pat retirement celebration

What’s more likely: Haynesworth in ’10 or Edwards in ’11?
